ello,
2007 will be my Fifth year of a Computerized Christmas Display.
Starting in 2003, I began using "Light O Rama" Computerized control. That year, with the late release of the product, and it being new to me (and everyone else), I ran 40 channels of control, and just animation or control of lights only (Note: I was the 1st official LOR customer!). The display was not too big at that time. Just the 4 channel lights on the house, A large light tree with 4 channels, My home built wire frames such as the presents, the train, Bell, Snowman, and a few smaller things.
2004 grew to 144 channels, many more purchased and home built wire frames. I designed and fabricated the border arches for the yard perimeter, the "mini-trees", two light trees, etc. The addition of a low power FM transmitter and musically synchronized shows. Just putting together a light show synchronized to music can very easily take one to two weeks time for each with that many channels.
2005 had 200 channels of control. Two new large light trees with 32 channels each. 32 more mini trees with two channels (or colors) each. More new home-built wire frames such as Angels, a Choir, Snowflakes, 3D tree toppers, Re-lighting the train from mini lights to rope light. Converting the bell and drumming soldier from just a sequencer to computer control. Also bought the Wisemen and Shepards to go along with my Nativity scene from "Action Lighting".
2006 will end up being much the same as the previous year due to workload, travel, numerous surgeries & hospitalization.  Not my best year to date to say the least.  We have added another 16 channels to my neighbors house (the Mullins) for a total of 248 channels of control.  They have added new house lights and several wire frames to improve the display.
2007 is shaping up to be 344 channels of control, with the main addition of the new 28' mega-tree on the east side of the house along with it's array of 32 mini trees for some exciting effects.  This new component alone consumes 90 channels of control.
I'm working on another project, but at this time I cannot say if it will be completed in time.  Just too much going on all at the same time it seems.
